Many families start searching for the 2027 schedule of the EGE (the Russian school-leaving exam) and the OGE (the Russian 9th-grade state exam) as early as autumn — and find tables with exact dates for every subject. Don’t rush to trust them. As of 22 October 2026, the 2027 OGE and EGE schedules have not been published, not even as drafts. Other key dates of the school year are known already, though: some have been approved, others are set by the exam rules and don’t change from year to year.
We have gathered everything that can be known for sure and noted where each date comes from.

VPR 2027: the dates are approved
The VPR — Russia’s national diagnostic tests — will run from 19 April to 21 May 2027 for students in grades 4–8 and 10. Rosobrnadzor (the federal education supervision service) announced this when presenting its plans for assessing education quality in the 2026/2027 school year; the dates, participants and length of the tests are approved. Depending on the subject, a test takes one or two lessons, each no longer than 45 minutes.
The exact day for each subject within this window is set by the school itself — as in 2026, when Rosobrnadzor stressed that regions may not impose a single VPR day. So ask the school for your child’s exact timetable: it is usually posted on the school website or passed on by the class teacher.
Final essay — 2 December
The final essay admits 11th-graders to the EGE. It takes place on the first Wednesday of December of the final school year — 2 December in 2026. The extra dates are the first Wednesday of February and the second Wednesday of April, that is 3 February and 14 April 2027. The application is due no later than two weeks before the essay.
The essay is graded “pass” or “fail”, and students who fail are not admitted to the EGE. Those who fail can rewrite it on the extra dates, so even an unsuccessful first attempt is not a disaster. Still, it is far calmer to pass the first time and then focus entirely on the EGE.
Final interview — 10 February
For 9th-graders, admission to the OGE depends on the final interview, an oral test in Russian. The main date is the second Wednesday of February, 10 February 2027; the extra dates are 10 March and 19 April. The interview format changes in 2027 — see our article “Final interview 2027: three tasks instead of four”.
Exam applications
The choice of subjects is fixed by the application. For the EGE it is due by 1 February, for the OGE by 1 March inclusive. After these dates, subjects can only be changed for a valid, documented reason and no later than two weeks before the exam.
OGE and EGE schedule: when to expect it
The exam schedule is approved by a joint order of the Ministry of Education and Rosobrnadzor. Usually a draft comes out first, in autumn, for public discussion, and the order itself is signed in November or December. The 2026 schedule, for instance, was approved by orders dated 7 November 2025. As of 22 October 2026, there is no draft schedule for 2027 yet.
Last year gives a rough guide: in 2026 the main EGE period began on 1 June, and the OGE on 2 June. But exact dates by subject will only appear in the draft schedule. As soon as it is out, we will add the dates to the exam calendar on our site.
What to do now
- 11th grade: prepare for the final essay — fewer than six weeks remain until 2 December. Write at least two full timed essays.
- Before 1 February, decide which EGE subjects to take and which maths level to choose, and discuss it with the class teacher in advance.
- 9th grade: the final interview is on 10 February; by 1 March, choose the two elective OGE subjects.
- Ask the school for the VPR timetable as soon as it is set, and avoid planning trips on those days.
- Build the study plan as if the exams start in early June: if the schedule shifts, the extra time won’t hurt.
- Check the official sources — obrnadzor.gov.ru and fipi.ru. We add new dates to the exam calendar on our site.
